Tips for Using Backdrops

As you can see from the promotional photos, my backdrops tend to work well on a variety of photos, indoor or outdoor, darkly lit or bright. Generally, an Overlay blend mode will be the most universally applicable. This particular backdrop works best as a double overlay, meaning you duplicate it and apply a different blend mode to each copy. Check out the promo photos for an example setup! You can experiment with different blend modes and opacity to generate new effects! To keep your subject popping out, you can also apply a layer mask to the backdrop and use a soft brush to make the backdrop more transparent on your subject's face or other focal areas.
