Tips for Using Backdrops

As you can see from the promotional photos, my backdrops tend to work well on a variety of photos whether they're studio shot or outdoor, darkly lit or bright. Generally, an Overlay blend mode will be the most universally applicable. Use Soft Light for a milder effect and/or adjust transparency. Multiply works better for photos that are very brightly lit with light/white backgrounds. For a high-contrast look, try Linear Burn or Color Burn with lowered transparency. Lastly, to keep your subject popping out, apply a layer mask to the backdrop and use a soft brush to make the backdrop more transparent on your subject's face or other focal areas.
